Our Mission

Dakota Child and Family Clinic is a non-profit health care clinic in Burnsville, MN that serves the health needs of children and adults regardless of their ability to pay. DCFC was formed by a group of community members who were patients of the now closed Eagan Child and Family Care. In 2012, Eagan Child and Family Care was faced with some difficult options and considered closing down. The community responded in a way that the owners could not have anticipated and decided to form a Board of Directors and launch the community resource you know as Dakota Child and Family Clinic as it stands today. Care is modeled within the Nurse Practitioner framework of patient-centered, high-quality, holistic, and culturally inclusive. Nurse practitioners focus on helping patients achieve optimum health, however that is defined by the individual.

Accessible, compassionate health care for all.

We Care

We commit to providing the highest quality care for patients and their families. We provide care for babies through older adults, and everything in between! We provide primary care, medication management, sick visits and more from our clinic in Burnsville. Please see the care team page to learn about our providers and staff! We Include

We welcome patients in a caring atmosphere that is accessible and inclusive to meet the physical, social, and mental health needs of all. We provide a sliding fee scale for those who are uninsured or underinsured. Free care is also offered through our REACH clinic. We are currently offering no cost mental health care at DCFC. A variety of support groups operate out of our clinic, and change with the needs of the community. (Image of Medical Assistant checking a patient’s blood pressure)

We Educate

We create a compassionate learning environment for future care providers as well as our patients and families. We support medical students by giving them an opportunity to work with the providers and staff to gain hands-on experience in the field. Students are able to see the entire process from intake through visits to develop a deeper understanding of the health needs of patients. During the pandemic, we collaborated with local schools to provide clinical hours to students using our COVID-19 testing site. We Advocate

We actively engage with our community to identify and attend to current and future needs in an equitable manner. We provide free support groups that change with the needs of the community. (Image of four staff at the Minnesota State Capitol)
