Dakota Child & Family Clinic hosts an after school program for African American high school students called
“It’s Complicated.”
The curriculum for “It’s Complicated” was developed with the support of a Community Advisory Board that identified barriers for mental health services experienced within the African American community. Participants decided this summer what they would like to focus on.
This program was made possible by a Minnesota Department of Behavioral Health block grant.
All students receive a journal and pens, “Humanize My Hoodie” sweatshirt and books or movies discussed in the program.
Facilitators:
Jason Sole – Author and Professor – Prison to PH.D, co-founder of “Humanize My Hoodie”
Adenike Chan – Therapist
Harrell Mathieu – Facilitator
